Father's Day in Palm Springs

Over Father's Day weekend we traveled to Palm Springs. Nathan was working at a conference out there and we decided to join him so he wouldn't be away from his family on Father's Day. One of his colleagues was so gracious to lend us her family's condo ~ it was such a blessing! The Kropf family was there as well and the boys had a great time together. Typical of Palm Springs in the summer though, the weather was very HOT! I think one day it reached 112 degrees. Needless to say, we really enjoyed the pool while were were there.
Ready for her first dip in the swimming pool.

Micah was so excited to have Ashlyn join him in the pool.

She loved the water once she got used to the temp difference

Happy baby...

Getting splashed by big brother...

Not so happy baby

Grant and Micah ~ they had a blast spending a couple of day playing together.

So sweet...

Grant had lots of cool cars and Micah had fun playing with them in the huge living room of the house we stayed at.

Brooke and Barbara

What a crazy boy!

Happy Father's Day Daddy!

Ashlyn is smiling so much now. Every morning when I go to get her out of bed she is full of smiles. I love it!!

It's always so fun to be out and about with a baby because everyone wants to see the baby. It's a great opportunity to talk with people you'd never talk to otherwise. We met quite a few people while we were out to dinner on this particular night.

Micah loves his little sister. He's always giving her loves.

Daddy and his little munchkins.

A fun evening out at dinner.

Our last day there we decided to visit the Palm Springs Air Museum which houses planes from WWII. Micah had fun climbing up into this plane.

Ready to fly...

Fun Times with the Boys

Two weeks ago Micah's cousin, Josiah, came out to our house to spend the week with us. They were thrilled to have a week long slumber party! And amazingly, they actually went to sleep every night. The boys played so well together ~ it's fun to see them interacting more as they get older. Here's a brief photo recap of our week together...

Making fresh squeezed juice for breakfast smoothies

Ashlyn's all ready for the day

We spent the first day together at the LA Zoo

They were a little timid about the snake, but Micah finally got up the nerve to pet it

Ashlyn had fun facing out to discover the world around her

Best buddies!

What a fun day!

A bunch of crazy monkeys!!

The weather here has been quite warm so we made it to the pool every day that Josiah was here. They love the water and had so much fun swimming together.

What's this? Daddy made funny face pancakes.

Our 3 kiddos for the week, all ready for bed

What a big girl! She's sitting in the Bumbo seat on her own now!
Making "Get Well" cards for Josiah's Daddy

It's been a fun week! Thanks for spending it with us Josiah!

Blueberries, Blueberries and More Blueberries

Have you ever seen a blueberry bush? They are beautiful plants. On Friday we were invited to a blueberry farm to pick as many blueberries as we could manage to get into our car. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time picking berries. We also got to tour the packaging plant to see the process they go through to get from the field to the truck that takes them to the grocery store. Seeing how much has to happen to get them to the store really helps you understand the price of these yummy little berries.

We learned which berries are good to pick and which ones aren't ripe yet. Micah did a good job differentiating between the two.
He also did a good job getting berries into his mouth. I think he put more berries in his mouth than into his bucket.

Working hard

Ashlyn was there too, but she slept most of the time.

Thanks for a wonderful day Tom and Karen! We've been having fun with the yummy blueberry recipes you gave us and sharing berries with our friends!

Baby Showers and Fun with Baby

This past week was busy with two baby showers and lots of baking. Micah had fun with all the cake decorating supplies (he got to decorate some cupcakes while I decorated the cakes), but we also managed to squeeze in some fun play time with Ashlyn as well.
The first shower was for Bonnie and baby Joshua. It was fun to have this shower while mom was still here to celebrate with us.

The second shower was for my good friend Kristin. She is expecting a baby boy later this summer, another playmate for Ashlyn. We can't wait to meet him!

Ashlyn sat up long enough to watch Micah brush his teeth

Fascinated by the colors on the television
Ashlyn was having fun with this little rattle

Daddy made Micah a funny face pancake for breakfast this week. Micah thought his pancake man was so cool he needed a name, so Micah named him Uncle Bobby. Hope you like your namesake Uncle Bobby!

What a difference 10 weeks makes!

Believe it or not Ashlyn is 11 weeks old now! And she has grown so much in that short amount of time. Below are 2 pictures of her in her car seat. The first one was taken at 3 days old and the second picture is 10 weeks old. She's so big now!

Vasquez Rocks

On Memorial Day we went up to Vasquez Rocks to hike around and climb on the rocks. Micah is a natural rock climber ~ fearless!! Daddy let him climb much higher than Mama would have preferred. Ashlyn and I eventually retreated to the car because I couldn't handle seeing Micah so high up!

Ready to go ~ Let's climb!

Micah was a little unsure about climbing at first, but Daddy helped him to know where to place his feet, and kept a good grip on him just in case he slipped.

Once he made it to the top of the first rock, Micah was ready to conquer them all

We thought this rock looked like a frog, so the boys climbed up to get a picture next to it.

Micah, Mama and Ashlyn ~ proof that the girls were there too.

Taking a rest after a steep climb. He's so high up there the cars below look like toys.

So proud to show off the big rocks that he climbed!
