A Dress From Daddy

For a few weeks before Ashlyn was born we looked for a special dress to bring her home in. I thought that with the Easter season it would be easy to find a lacy, frilly dress, but the search proved much more difficult than I had expected. So we settled on a pretty little sundress that looked like it would be way too big for a newborn. The day Ashlyn was born, Daddy took Micah to Build-A-Bear so he could make a bear for Ashlyn with her same birthday. While there, he found this pretty white dress, meant for a bear, but the perfect size for little Ashlyn. He brought it to the hospital and said this was the dress he wanted to bring her home in. It fit her perfectly. She's already got a grip on Daddy's heartstrings!

All dressed and ready to go home.

Thanks for my first dress Daddy.

Before leaving the hospital we also put a little sweater on her since it was cool outside.

Going Home with Baby

On Wednesday evening Dr. Frields released us to go home. We were thankful for the help and care we received in the hospital, but were so glad to bring our little girl home.

Sweet kisses

Dr. Frields delivered Ashlyn and provided us with wonderful care throughout the entire pregnancy. We praise God for providing him as our doctor!

All ready to go home

Leaving Glendale Adventist

It's a Girl! Micah put this sign up in front of our home the day Ashlyn was born.

Welcome home Ashlyn!

Micah was thrilled to finally have Ashlyn at home. He has been such a big helper for Mama ~ he loves to take care of his little sister.

Visitors in the Hospital

It was fun to have several people come visit us and meet Ashlyn while we were at the hospital. It seems like Tuesday flew by quickly between visitors, doctors and nurses. We hardly had time to remember how tired we were from not getting any sleep the night before.

Kristin, Brianna, and Bethany came to meet Ashlyn. The girls were so cute as they watched the little baby! They are excited about their own little brother coming in August. Tuesday was Brianna's birthday ~ Happy 3rd birthday Brianna!

Aunt Bonnie enjoyed holding Ashlyn for a while. These two already have something in common ~ they share the same birthday! Happy 30th birthday Aunt Bonnie!

Micah had a blast with his Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Avilla, while we were in the hospital. She took care of him on Monday and Tuesday ~ he even got to spend the night at her home. We are so thankful for Mr. and Mrs. Avilla as they diligently teach the 3 year olds at Placerita.

We are excited to meet Bonnie's little one coming in May. Ashlyn and her cousin will only be 2 months apart.

Pastor Steve and Judy stopped in to see us and pray for our little blessing.

It was fun to have Brooke come visit for a little while.

Here's "Auntie" Vonna! She was in the delivery room with us and was a huge blessing and encouragement in preparing me for and helping me through an unmedicated labor. Thank you Vonna!

Welcome to the world Little Girl!

We praise the Lord for the arrival of Ashlyn Fae Scroggins on Monday, March 24, 2008! She was born at 3:57 p.m., weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. and was 18 3/4 inches long. She looks just like Micah did when he was born, only her hair is a little bit darker.

Heading to the hospital on Resurrection Sunday!

All settled in at Glendale Adventist Medical Center.

Micah had fun dropping Mama off at the hospital and seeing where she would be for the next few days. He was so excited about the prospect of his little sister being here soon.

One last family picture with the baby still in Mama's belly.

Welcome little Ashlyn!

Resurrection Sunday

"He is not here. He has risen!" Luke 24:6

It has been so much fun to talk with Micah as we've approached Resurrection Sunday this year. We've used the Resurrection Eggs to teach him the whole story and now he can tell you all about what happened during passion week. It has sparked so many questions in his mind. I'm glad Daddy has a seminary degree cause some of those questions are pretty hard to answer. Who knew a 3 year old could ask such theological questions. It's amazing how his little mind works to come up with these challenging questions! He was telling us last night that he doesn't like the fact that he has sin in his heart and he asked Daddy to pray for him that he wouldn't sin anymore. There is nothing more precious to a parent's heart. We continue to pray that God would use these discussions to write the truth of His Word upon Micah's heart and bring him to a saving knowlegde of Jesus Christ. And we praise God for the saving grace He has given to those who call upon His name, through the precious blood of His own Son shed so many years ago. It's so good to know that His death was not the end of the story though. What a comfort it is to know we serve a risen Lord!
He is risen! He is risen, indeed!

A Family of Three...

The baby is coming in only a few days. Mama goes into the hospital on Sunday so we went out one last time as a family of three...

Easter Egg Hunt

Micah remembered going on an Easter Egg hunt last year at Grandpa's in Idaho so he was very anxious to have one again this year, even though we weren't going to be in Idaho. So Daddy went outside and hid some eggs for Micah to go find. He had so much fun!

Waiting for baby

This was our last week before the arrival of the new baby. Micah is very excited to finally have her here with us. He keeps asking, "How many more days til the baby comes?" We had a busy week having fun together and finishing up getting ready for her...

Daddy and Micah planted some flowers out front to welcome the new baby.
Micah is diligent to make sure they get watered.

Micah wanted to learn how to put a diaper on baby so he practiced with his dog Biscuit.

After a diaper change, the baby needs to be burped.

Daddy and Micah got the car all clean for the new baby. I'm not sure what got more wet, the car or Micah?!

What a cutie! Can't wait to be a big brother!

Kisses for the baby

Micah loves to snuggle Mama's belly

So excited! Micah got a new fireman jacket and boots.

Fireman Micah running out to put out the house fire...

Putting out the fire. Micah thought the sun reflecting on the water made it look like there was smoke.
