Baseball Day at Faith Kids

We had a special day at Faith Kids where all the boys participated in baseball practice while the girls received a ballet lesson. Micah loved being a baseball player. When he returned home and told Daddy all about it, Daddy suggested that maybe they should get him his own ball and mitt and Daddy could teach him how to play. Micah quickly replied, "You don't need to teach me. I've already been trained!"
All lined up and ready for practice

First they learned to throw

Learning to catch

Finally, time to hit the ball!

Micah loved running the bases. Here he comes...

There he goes...

Now in the outfield, ready to catch

All the boys descended on the ball at one time

Running to tag out Seth

Go team!

Thanks for the lesson Mr. Backes

Bridgeport Marketplace

We discovered a new little shopping area in Valencia that has a little lake and bridges, which means Micah had fun running all around it. It also provided a pretty place for some pictures of the kids...

Hiking with Daddy

A few years ago, Nathan took Micah up to the cross behind Masters and Micah has never forgotten about it. Recently he started asking to go up there again, so the boys took a morning hike up to the cross. Here are a few pictures from their hike...

Pretty as a Princess

Nathan has been having fun taking pictures of Ashlyn this month. Here she was dressed up in the beautiful dress that Nana gave her. It won't fit much longer, so we figured we better take the opportunity to get some pictures of her in it.

Springtime Fun

We kept very busy in March and enjoyed some of the nice weather that we had. Here's a few of the things we did...

Our church had a potluck lunch after the services and had several bounce houses/slides available for the kids. It was a hot day, but the kids still had a blast!

Ashlyn didn't partake in the sliding, but she had fun watching everyone else.
This year we decided to celebrate the Jewish festival of Purim, remembering God's salvation of the Jewish people in the book of Esther. To get ready for the Purim party Micah helped make a special treat called Hamentashen.

We had the party at the Sedy's house. As part of the modern day celebration of Purim, children dress up in costume for the party. The kids made masks and special noisemakers called groggers.

After making their masks and groggers, we read through the story of Esther. The kids job was to listen carefully for Haman's name so they could boo and shake their groggers anytime his named was mentioned in the story.

After the story, they enjoyed trying out the Hamentashen

Micah loved this marble toy he found at their house.

Lunch time ~ the kids kept their costumes on the whole time. It's so much fun to dress up!

Ashlyn even dressed up for the party ~ she is Queen Esther.

Zachary and Ashlyn playing together.
This year we decided to enjoy our Easter activities on the first day of Spring, in an effort to be focus on the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. So the kids woke up to find their Easter baskets and also enjoyed hunting for eggs.
Once Ashlyn realized there was yummy Yogurt Melts in her eggs, she was quick to look for more.

Micah and Daddy had fun coloring Easter eggs

So proud of the finished product!

Faith Kids in March

We had a fun month in Faith Kids with a few visitors and a trip to a local fire station...

Micah was very excited to have Auntie Vonna come in all dressed up in her nursing clothes with all her special tools! The kids got to listen to their own heartbeat and even got some "medicine" in a little pill cup. (aka Smarties!)

We also had a dentist visit the class, but I didn't get any pictures of that visit.

The fire station is always a favorite for kids. Micah loves seeing the trucks anywere on the road, so it was a fun treat to visit the firemen at their station. They got a tour of the whole facility and then got to see the trucks!

Micah had fun "driving" the big firetruck!

And spraying the hose is always great fun!

The firemen were so kind to spend time with the kids and answer all their questions.

After the fire station we headed to the park with our Faith Kids friends. The boys enjoyed chasing each other around.

Ashlyn had fun in the sand. She even discovered the joy of a sandy mouth. I'm sure there will be more of that to come this summer!
